Game crashes when loading up world

My newly installed Minecraft has not been able to load up any world after i had just bought and installed it. Would appreciate for anyone to give me any areas i can troubleshoot or better yet give an explanation. Please assist, wouldnt want to have wasted my money only to be unable to play the game.

The pop-up states that "Java(TM) Platform SE binary has stopped working."
