Weird Blast Furnace Bug

I put a block of coal in a blast furnace as fuel to smelt some iron ores, but the fuel level doesnt drop . Instead of smelting only 80 items as a block of coal does , i can smelt an infinite amount of items without needing to add any other fuel item .
