plants not in centre of block

I generated a world. I was walking around when I noticed part of some grass off the edge of a block. I then noticed that most flowers (the one block flowers) were not in the middle of the blocks they were on. I tried breaking and replacing them, but it had no effect on where on the block the flowers were.
