When fullscreening Minecraft, it duplicates the image across both screens

When I hit Fullscreen on in video settings or F11, my game fullscreens however it freezes on my main monitor and appears on my secondary monitor, I can then control my game on my secondary monitor using my main monitor (if that makes any sense). I just want to be able to simply play in fullscreen on my main monitor but I am yet to find a way to do so without the window bugging out and duplicating to my other monitor.
