Locate command not working at all

Locate command not working at all, will not locate any structures or anything within the command list of "locate". After entering in command, such as stronghold or village, no chat command message is returned, not even an error. I have tried to create new worlds, but nothing is working. I also made sure all the chat messages are turned on.
