Villager not going to work station/wandering in same place

When I found a village in my survival world, I was excited to get some librarians. Unfortunately, there were none naturally, so I broke a composter and placed down a lectern to convert a farmer into one. It worked, but now the librarian won't restock the trades if there's a lectern right next to them (even when they're around it for most of the day). And for some reason it keeps exploring the same part of a mountain day in and day out, even following the same general pattern. If I dig out some of the blocks on the mountain, the villager still just walks on the same blocks.
