The Elytra doesn't fly in Creative mode

In the WiiU version of Minecraft, (and maybe other console versions or the Bedrock version) If you wear an Elytra in creative mode you can fly with it by holding the Jump button. If that's an intended featured shouldn't it be in the Java edition as well?
