cant repair pickaxe at crafting table

So i put two pickaxes in a crafting table to repair them. They are both diamond pickaxes.

One of them has a durability of 1 and the other 1503. I put them into the crafting table but i cant craft it.

 

Steps to reproduce:

1.Get two pickaxes of the same material

2.Use them to drain their durability

3.Try to craft them at the crafting table

4.Fail
