Cobwebs do not convert into 9 Strings in crafting tables

For some particular reason, it doesn't seem that I can make Strings from Cobwebs, should I chosoe to put them into a crafting interface. I've searched to see if this was a possible change, and I may be blind to an actual change that has been made towards this, but if this is not the case, then, well..
