Wet Sign Glitch

I was building DerpCrafturr's watermill, and I noticed a strange occurence with signs and water. If you have a stream of of water and place a sign in the middle of it, the water will keep on flowing, even when you remove the source block. The only way to get the unwanted water to stop flowing is to break the sign. Strangely, this does not work with lava.
