Horses glitch when climbing 1 block tall jumps, and take damage when dismounted.

Sometimes when riding a horse up a 1 block tall jump, the horse will glitch and spasm as if stuck in the block, and will take damage when dismounted as if suffocation damage accumulated and was released at once.
