Cobblestone walls joining underwater

Creative, placing cobblestone walls underwater onto sand and dirt, instead of expanding to make a wall, it made all corners. It didn't lengthen and make a smooth wall. You know what the corners look like, the posts in the ground, it was all corners as the wall. Look at the picture below.
