Minecraft crashes at startup after upgrading NVIDIA driver to 390.116

Updated the NVIDIA driver to 390.116, as newest in the repository. After launching Minecraft the launcher window opens. Clicking on "Play" results in an "Unexpected crash".

Crash report is attached.

Reverting to the 390.77 driver solves the problem.
