Arrows can go through blocks

I was  experimenting with bows and crossbows, and i found that when you shoot at any block from any distance, the arrow seems to just phase through the block. This happens with bows and crossbows. The arrow seems to stop after it has passed the block, making it float in mid air. When the block the arrow has gone through is destroyed, the arrow retains its momentum from when it was shot.
