Raids never end

I got stuck in a never ending raid without a Bad Omen curse at my own building, I assume because I cured a zombie villager, and I went through like nine raids and two illager beasts and they never stopped coming! It was exhausting. I only managed to stop it by switching to peaceful mode. If I wasn't able to do that they would have destroyed my base.
