Single and double chests become invisible when placed on the left side of furnaces

When chests are placed on the left side of furnaces they become invisible, it seems to only happen when the furnace is facing east or west. After messing with the bug a bit I noticed that it does not sometimes depending on which direction the face of the furnace is pointing.

 

EDIT: If you create multiple invisible chests it may crash your game
