Mobs not spawning in overworld

Neutral mobs spawn but for some reason hostile mobs don't naturally spawn, from spiders to witches(spawners work jsut fine). Not 100% but I'm pretty sure I haven't seen any salmons or squids recently near my camp... you might want to make sure this is okay while you're at it
