Blocks attached to beds do not drop if you break the other side

See attached screenshot. Since there are signs attached to both the front and back of the bed, you would expect all of the signs to drop when the bed is broken. What actually happens is the signs that drop are the ones that are attached to the part of the bed you broke. The signs attached to the other side are lost.
