When killed, the mobs that killed me or any other random mobs become invisible

When I am killed by a mob, that mob and other mobs can become invisible, then I cannot melee attack them, but can still hear them, be attacked by them and shoot them with a bow to kill them. Only seems to happen when I least expect it too, trying to recreate it doesn't usually work
