Can't jump against a block

I can't jump against a block, I feel this may be a glitch

What I expected to happen was...:
Walk up to a block and jump against it

What actually happened was...:
I could not, I had to jump from another block

Steps to Reproduce:
1. walk up next to a block
2. jump against block
3. You can't
