Dropped items not visible after respawning player

What I expected to happen was...:
I would be able to see my items after respawning where I died.

What actually happened was...:
My items were on the ground but invisible.  I didn't know they were there until I ran around frantically and saw my inventory fill.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Die.
2. Respawn.
3. Go to death spot and see no items on ground (assuming they didn't despawn).
