Program won't respond, won't load title page, game says it crashed

When I open the game the launcher works, but when I press play it shows the Mojang screen for minutes on end before saying it isn't responding. When I close it it says the game crashed. It's been happening for two days now, three days ago it worked with just a few connection issues.
