You can place a water source block inside of a chest

To recreate:

 

Place a chest, trapped chest, double chest, or double trapped chest down.

 

Hold shift with a water bucket in hand.

 

Right click chest.

 

When you break the chest the water source goes away. This works on every version past 18w10b.
