Campfire smoke remains after Campfire is destroyed.

I created a campfire and placed it on top of a hay bale. When I decided to move it to a different location, I destroyed the Campfire with my diamond pickax and removed the haybale too. I then filled the hole with Stone. Campfire smoke still is present as if a campfire were still there. Picture attached.
