Campfire smoke particles still appearing after breaking it, and put out campfires keep smoke.

Sometimes when I put out a campfire, it keeps making smoke particles. Then when I break the campfire, the smoke particles still keep appearing where the fire was, even when I break the hay bale to stop signal smoke particles, they keep appearing. I must admit though, it is kinda fun since I tried placing blocks that have an opening on top like a smoker, hopper and dropper/dispenser there and it looked pretty funny.
