No Advancements Showing

I started up a new world, but I started to notice that no advancements were showing up when I did them (ex. a seedy place, where I planted a potato and harvested it). I have tried multipul advancements, and none have worked. I'm not sure if that is supposed to happen, or if it is an issue. thanks for your time.
