shulker box contents deleted all of a sudden

I stored a bunch of stuff in a shulker box, and then later when I opened it up again, everything was gone. I picked it up and placed it back down, and it was still empty.

 

e: I was just able to reproduce this, it seems to happen when saving the world and reentering it
