Minecraft crashes while attempting to join multiplayer server

Typically how this happens is that I attempt to join a public multiplayer server through the multiplayer tab of the main menu. The server I am trying to join in this case is WinterCrest (Server Address: play.wintercrestmc.com:25565), and everytime I attempt to join the server the game shall go through it's normal functions. However, the game will proceed to say "Loading terrain..." as usual, but following it are the words"Saving world..." and then crash. Normally it should say "Joining world..." It is a low population server and I have tried joining it on different networks. The error shown by the launcher is as follows: 

The game crashed whilst unexpected error
Error: java.lang.NullPointerException: Unexpected error

I have attached the crash report provided by the launcher and/or the crash reports file inside the Minecraft directory. I have also left the game output log (The one accessible by going to Settings in the launcher, and turning on "Open output log when the game starts") in the form of a .txt file for easier viewing. It contains all fatals, warnings, and infos, excluding debugs.
