Minecraft x y z selectors not working

I'm pretty annoyed with this, because I typed this command and put it in an always active repeating command block:

/kill @a[x=-18,y=56,z=12]

and it started killing me over and over and I wasn't even at the coordinates.

I had to delete the world.
