Bamboo falling footstep bug

While I was messing around with bamboo in Creative Mode, I fell down the Bamboo while in the same block as it (not inside the bamboo, just same space as it), and I starting strafing around it.  I heard footsteps accompanied by the captions saying Footsteps.  There were no friendly, neutral, or hostile mobs around.
