Advanced OpenGL causes immense CPU usage and Framrate issues

Whenever i log in and click on a world i checked to see if my lag issues were because of some certain settings i had on. When i turned Advanced OpenGL off i spiked all the way up to 150FPS with advanced OpenGL I could not move at all and task manager says it is using around 90-95% of CPU.
