Bamboo saplings connecting to other blocks

Bamboo saplings will connect to glass panes, fences, walls, and iron bars. The Bamboo block/plant doesn't though it's only the sapling. It doesn't matter which order the blocks and Bamboo sapling are placed in it will connect either way.
