Possible piston powering bug - Don't know if its on purpose

When there is a redstone block (don't know if other power sources work) two blocks above a piston like shown below, it will power / remain powered when updated. It does not work with redstone blocks below pistons, and works with all directions of pistons. I do not know if this is intentional or not.
