Night Vision potion will not wear off and bugs out my game. The effects keep renewing.

On a singleplayer world I used a splash potion of night vision but it would not wear off because the effects kept renewing . Every few seconds, the sky bugged out and became black under a line in the sky. In order to get rid of the effect I had to use the '/kill DogGirl108 ' command.
