graphical glitch + crash when clicking "multiplayer" on 1.13

this is actually affecting my friend but whenever he clicks on multiplayer he gets a jumbled up screen similar to some of the icons in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGwEIriq1MM (loud warning) (its kinda hard to describe i will try to get a screenshot from him asap) and then crashes shortly after
