Scroll wheel causes player to look at the ground

Scrolling from inventory slot to inventory slot really quickly, such that any intervening slots do not have a chance to display their item, instantly forces the player to look down and also rotate 180 degrees if already looking down.

I am using an Evoluent sideways mouse, the only input I am providing is the mouse wheel, and I'm playing in Realms.

Scrolling one slot at a time or pressing the inventory slot buttons does not produce this effect. Inventory slots must be skipped whilst scrolling.
