Eye of Ender taking to Mineshafts

Eye of Enders are taking me to mineshafts. The /locate is also taking to mineshafts. Using amidst, everywhere the locate command takes me there is a mineshaft, no end portals/strongholds. I'm playing a 1.12.2 world upgraded to 1.13.
