Minecraft Crashes on launch

When I try to play 1.13 the game crashes immediately and gives the message 

The game crashed whilst initializing game
Error: java.lang.IllegalStateException: Not a JSON Object: null 

I found others online with the same issue but the solution changing my resolution does not work, can anyone help?
