OSX Fullscreen and framerate issues

When running Minecraft 1.12.2 and earlier versions, my framerate is higher than 60, however, when I play with 1.13, it drops to around 30fps. The only thing is when I select the "fullscreen" options in the settings, Minecraft goes fullscreen and everything runs smoothly, as if I were playing 1.12.2. Also, when I try to move to a different window, Minecraft crashes. If it doesn't, it begins to make my entire computer painfully slow. This only happens if I have the fullscreen option selected.
