White Player Marker Gone After Placing Map in Item Frame-Mulitplayer

I am the server's "map maker/explorer" and made a fully zoomed out map of the area around my main base. When I got most of it explored, I created an Item Frame to place it in so others could see it and copy it easily. When I did this, The green dot showed up and so did my white dot. I left my map in a chest while I did some other stuff, then came back to pick it up. When I did so, my white dot was gone.

I made a copy of it, same problem, restarted game, same problem. I destroyed that copy of the map and made another copy from the Item Frame...same problem. Nothing seems to bring back my white dot.

Now, that being said, when I go to an un explored area with my map, it shows me exploring the map, but just no white player dot.

Maps have ALWAYS been a problem for me on this server... so maybe it has something to do with that, or playing on a Mac, but either way, its really frustrating as I have spent tons of time exploring these maps.
