Torches in off hand dissapearing

When holding torches in off hand while having an empty hand in right hand, if you attempt to place a torch on any surface it will act as if you have placed a torch but the torch will disappear in less than a second, meanwhile, torches in offhand will lose one torch until you switch hands or lift torches in inventory.
