Cannot throw trident while using elytra in creative mode

While flying with an elytra (enchanted with feather falling) & trident (enchanted with riptide) during a thunderstorm in creative mode (I also had the slow falling potion on), I was not able to throw a trident (enchanted with loyalty, impaling, and channeling). When I switched to survival mode, I was able to throw it. Also, this happened (image attached).
