Ctrl isn't needed if you middle-click something

Place a block with an inventory (like a chest or a furnace)>put an item inside>middle-click it in creative mode>you don't get a normal chest but a chest the item inside

 

This was possible holding Ctrl with middle-click in the earlier versions
