Compasses do not function correctly - as player turns needle goes in apparent random direction

Each time I play for awhile and earn a compass - I return to mark spawn and noticed that compass needle is not working correctly. Easily duplicatable - just hold compass and try to locate spawn. As you turn - needle seems to go in a random direction when needle should always stay pointing toward spawn.
