Game closes when pressing escape (Windows 10)

I have tried to play the new pre3 and whenever I press escape to get to the menus, the game closes with no error report. This happens in all 1.13 snapshots as well. (I get in a world then press escape and then it (the game) closes. if i don't press escape it works fine but i cant change my options or leave the world without the crash.)
