FPS still lower when using high res packs

Even after the performance increase in 1.5.1, fps when using high res packs is still significantly lower. In 1.4.7 and before I was able to run a x128 pack with around 80 fps. In 1.5 and 1.5.1 I only get 5-10 fps.
