Minecraft Java crashes when I click on recipe missing ingredients

When I click on items in the book of recipes, everything works as intended. However, when I click on a recipe with a red outline, in other words a recipe that does not have the required ingredients (in this case it was the recipe for sandstone and I had no sand in my inventory) it freezes immediately and crashes.

 

Attached is a typical log file from when I loaded up my singleplayer world (created today in this prerelease) and try to craft a uncraftable recipe.
