Crafting Eggs Issue 1.13

So basically, I have this datapack which enables me to craft a Vex Spawn Egg. Then there are some commands that detect if I have that spawn egg, if so it gives me a Silverfish Spawn Egg, then clears the Vex Spawn Egg. But the problem is, after I take the newly-crafted Vex Spawn Egg and put it in my inventory, the commands dont detect this. They only detect it after i close my inventory and and open it up again. Also, if I move the spawn egg around in my inventory, it gets cleared like planned, but doesn't give me a Silverfish Spawn Egg. Help...?
