Scoreboard objectives for tracking non-useable item usage not working

I was trying to use the scoreboard to track how many times a player right clicked with a minecraft:heart_of_the_sea, but the scoreboard was not updating.

What I expected to happen was...:
The score for my character to increment by one when using a Heart of the Sea.

What actually happened was...:
The score never updated.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Run Command: /scoreboard objectives add use_hos minecraft.used:minecraft.heart_of_the_sea
2. Run Command: /scoreboard objectives setdisplay sidebar use_hos
3. Run Command: /give @p minecraft:heart_of_the_sea
4. Right click given item
5. Notice sidebar didn't update

Additional Notes

• I also tried this with a nether star and got the same result
