Game crashes on startup if the "saves" folder is a softlink

My %APPDATA%/.minecraft/saves directory is really a shortcut to a directory on a network share that gets backed up regularly. It's been working fine like this for years.

The latest snapshot (18w19a) will crash on startup with this message in the log:

java.lang.RuntimeException: java.nio.file.FileAlreadyExistsException: .\saves

If I rename the shortcut to "saves2" and create an actual directory named "saves", it will work fine.
